[Editor's note:  Larry made these remarks as part of his keynote address to a national Facilitated Communication conference sponsored by Maine's Center for Community Inclusion in Portland, ME, in May, 1999.]

Introductory remarks:

Arms pass for doing the race towards supremacy in the world. Lost occupation of creating specially ordered art has disappeared but situation of affirming rights of people with disabilities will vote down platform of space race over pursuit of artistic expeditions for personal pacts of freedom.
Leftist arranger of peaceful paints and letters can communicate. Positions of support for sputtering engines corroded by disturbances of neurological origin need to be enlisted.

Preparations for celebrating greatest year of two thousand should include artistic organisation of art shows and literary readings in stadiums around the nation so that people of all stripes and stars can join hands to see their works.

Ending of art dynasty of privileged world of Picasso types will start. Resurgence of outsider independent masters of earthy art will begin by making time on evening broadcast news programming.

Northeastern land of Maine doesn't promise climates of warmth and sunshine but modern germfree hotel uses its space to best advantage when (given by) speakers, loony, maybe masking startling intelligence with eccentric behavior, tell their stories strongly to channeled believers in principles of free communication through nonvoice means.

Comments on FC

Strongest therapy for people with no means of expression is sensational, controversial, revolutionary, technically subtle FC. It involves understanding movement lapses of people and providing physical support to help overcome them. Plastic nature of of users of FC requires topnotch weaning of support towards ultimate goal of independence.

At Canns Film Festival it should win award for documentary of tension between affirmation of mental capacity and pain of physical production of language.

(The role of touch)
It lands basis for neurological collection of spatial awareness. Ladle of doing language meaningfully is lost in soup of disabled map of autism so I need potholder of touch to grab it.
